Coherent Hits Record High on AI Optics Demand as NVIDIA Bet Pays Off
Coherent Corp. surged 17.7% to an all-time high of $427.29 after NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang spotlighted optical interconnects as critical AI infrastructure. The stock has gained 455% from its 52-week low, fueled by NVIDIA's $2 billion strategic investment and multi-year procurement commitments.
While Marvell Technology grabbed headlines with a 25% jump, Coherent—the actual manufacturer of optical transceivers—demonstrated stronger fundamentals. Q3 revenue reached $1.81 billion, up 21% YoY, with data center book-to-bill ratios exceeding 4:1.
The rally reflects a broader market realization: hardware enabling AI data transmission is becoming as valuable as the processors themselves. Coherent now commands an $83 billion valuation, with year-to-date gains of 126%.
